After thinking that we’d be only outside for an hour or so in sleeping bags on our verandah, we ended up staying out all night. It was incredible to just lay there and watch the progression of the amazing night sky. We didn’t get a lot of sleep but the experience was well worth it.

Having not had much sleep, we were up pretty early because we were scheduled to go on a walk around Uluru. The walk around the base of Uluru is about 10 km, so we had to set out early to avoid the heat.

We stopped along the way to look at some rock art and hear about the significance of the rock to the local indigenous inhabitants over the last 40,000 years.

After a pretty vigorous walk we headed back to the resort for a cool drink. (Longitude 131 has an open bar, which does test the willpower a bit!)

We then had lunch and relaxed in the afternoon (with a nap!) before evening canapés and drinks

Enjoying the canapés and late afternoon views from the resort.

Tomorrow we head home after what has been a short but fantastic trip.
