A busy day in Vancouver
We were up pretty early this morning and we headed out for breakfast to a very trendy cafe called Jam. The cafe was about 15 minutes by foot from the hotel and was sufficiently popular that people were lined up out the front to get in. We waited in line for about 15 minutes before being shown to a table. The menu was large and very interesting. We over-indulged on fruit, smashed avocado, eggs Benedict with roast pork belly, and pancakes! The portion sizes were unbelievable but we pushed through as best we could (although we didn’t finish a single plate of anything we ordered!).

After breakfast we walked towards the Chinatown area to take a tour through the Sun Yat-Sen garden, which was very pretty. We spent about an hour in the garden.

After relaxing in the garden, we walked to our next area of interest, Gastown. Gastown is a very lively area and we enjoyed walking through it, soaking up the atmosphere.

From Gastown, we hopped on the bus again and headed off to Prospect Point in Stanley Park, where we admired the views and took some photos.

We relaxed with an ice-cream while waiting for the next bus. We took the bus out of Stanley Park and hopped off a few stops later back in the city so we could find a bike shop and hire some bikes to take a more leisurely lap of Stanley Park along the sea wall. We found a bike shop that hired electric bikes (which was probably an overkill for the flat path around Stanley Park!) and we took a very enjoyable ride for a couple of hours around the park.

After returning the bikes we walked back along the water toward the hotel. We stopped and had dinner at a very nice restaurant right next to the Olympic cauldron from the 2010 Olympic Games. After dinner we meandered back to the hotel and headed off to bed.

Tomorrow we are leaving Vancouver by ship, which we are excited about.
