We had a very leisurely start to the day today, with a plan to just relax for the day.

Earlier in the journey, we had expressed some interest in seeing the galley and the process of preparing meals on the ship, and we spent some time this afternoon on a tour through the galley with Ross, the Executive Chef. We enjoyed the walking tour through the galley, while washing down caviar with glasses of champagne as we walked.

In the early evening, we went to the theatre for the official last-night goodbye from the crew. We also watched a movie that the ship’s videographer had made to record our journey, which reminded us of just how much we had packed into the last week and a half.

After the presentation, we were hosted by Ross, the Executive Chef, for dinner. We had an incredible meal, appropriately finished off with a fantastic Baked Alaska!

After dinner, we headed back to our room to pack, but we decided that since it was our last night, we’d spend the rest of the evening at the nightclub and leave the packing until later.

We collapsed into bed much later than usual after a lot of fun at the nightclub, followed by the less-exciting task of packing our cases and putting them outside the door for collection by the crew.

In the morning, we’ll arrive in Seward, and from there we’ve arranged to share a private van for the trip to Anchorage Airport with another couple we met who are also bound for Anchorage.
