Enjoying London
We seem to have adjusted pretty well to the time zone change from Melbourne so we had a good night’s sleep last night. We got downstairs to breakfast this morning at around 9:00am, which was pretty civilised.
Breakfast was fantastic, so much so that we over-ordered by quite a margin. We know better now for tomorrow morning!

After breakfast we caught a cab from the hotel to the Victoria and Albert Museum. The V&A (as it’s colloquially called) houses 145 galleries over more than 5 hectares, and contains more than 2 million items. We obviously couldn’t see everything but we gave it a pretty good go!

From the V&A we walked next door to the Museum of Natural History. We really enjoyed exploring the museum but the highlight for us was the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition.
It was mid-afternoon by the time we left the Museum of Natural History. We walked back through Knightsbridge to get to Hyde Park, which we strolled through while trying to pretend that we weren’t as cold as we felt. The temperature had peaked at 6C but it felt much colder than that.
We left Hyde Park and headed for Buckingham Palace. We’ve seen it plenty of times but it’s always impressive.

With the early winter sunset in London the late afternoon feels more like evening, so we were ready for dinner even though it was still only about 5:00pm. So, we hailed a cab outside Buckingham Palace to go to Selfridges, our favourite London department store. We wandered around for a little while before heading to the rooftop restaurant, Alto by San Carlo, where we had a lovely Italian dinner.
After dinner we meandered a bit more in Selfridges before walking back to the hotel to settle in for the night.
