The bed at The Langham last night was very comfortable. The only problem was that we weren’t in it as long as we would have liked to have been! We had a taxi booked for a 7:30 am departure from the hotel, so we had to be up early to pack (for the final time!), have breakfast, and check out. We had a nice breakfast, albeit a little rushed to make sure we stayed on schedule. After the numerous flight changes we’ve already had, we certainly wanted to make sure we had plenty of time, just in case anything else went wrong.

We left the hotel right on time after breakfast and had a nice drive to the airport. The traffic wasn’t too bad and we got into the terminal just after 8:30 am. As is consistently the case now, the airport security process was less than enthralling. We just roll with the punches when it comes to getting through airports but there’s no doubt that it’s now the least pleasant it has ever been.

After clearing security and re-packing our carry-on, we headed to the Qantas Lounge, where we are now relaxing before the flight.

We are due to take off in an hour but our in-bound flight still hasn’t landed so it’s highly unlikely that we’ll get away on time (where “on time” has been re-defined about five times since our original departure time yesterday). Still, the fact that the aeroplane is close by is a good sign! We expect to land in Perth around lunchtime on Saturday and in Melbourne on Saturday evening.

We’ve had a fantastic trip and can now look forward to heading to Tasmania in a few weeks’ time.
