Back to Melbourne
This morning the alarm went off at the ungodly time of 6:30 am. We had to be up early so we could be organised to get to the airport for our morning flight back home to Melbourne.
We got downstairs a bit before 7:30 am and enjoyed a nice breakfast.

We checked out of the hotel around 8:00 am, jumped in the car, and headed for the airport. The traffic on a Sunday morning in Hobart is very light so we got to the airport in about 20 minutes. We had to drop off our hire car so we pulled into the Avis drop-off area. We left the car with a very nice man and headed off to the terminal. As we walked to the terminal, we noticed that our hire car being driven out of the Avis area and heading to the airport exit, at which point we started to wonder if the nice man we handed the keys to was, in fact, an Avis employee or not! Oh well, we’ll just have to wait to see if Avis contacts us and asks us if we are going to return their car!
We got into the terminal and had a seamless check-in and the smoothest path through security that we can remember, such is the pace at Hobart’s airport! We went to the gate area and relaxed for a while before boarding commenced.

We boarded around 10:00 am and settled in for our flight back to Melbourne. The flight was pleasant and we were on the ground in Melbourne around 11:30 am. For some reason, it took about half an hour for our bags to appear on the baggage carousel, so it’s clear that Melbourne Airport is still struggling to get its act together.
Once we had our bags we walked to the car park and hopped in the car to head home.
We’re now back at home after having had a wonderful trip and we’re now looking forward to our next trip!
