After a good night’s sleep, we all met downstairs in the hotel for a lovely breakfast.

After breakfast, we checked out and hopped into the car for the drive down to Lake Taupo. On the way, we stopped in the very pretty town of Cambridge for a coffee and a walk around. We got to Huka Lodge (on the Waikato River, which flows out of Lake Taupo) around 4:00 pm. We relaxed in the lounge with a glass of champagne before being shown to our rooms. The rooms are very nice, with a beautiful view of the river.

We decided to relax for a bit, so we went next door to Peter and Joy’s room, where we had a drink and a snack and fed the very bold duck that had sauntered up onto the verandah!

Next up, we decided on playing some tennis, pétanque, and croquet. The standard for all three activities wasn’t high, but we had a lot of fun!

After our sporting endeavours, we returned to our rooms and got changed. We then all headed off to the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and canapés.

We then moved to the dining room for dinner.

After dinner, we returned to the lounge, where we enjoyed a selection of petit fours (not that we needed any more food!).

After a very full day, we returned to our rooms, and fell into bed.
