We are sleeping very well in the lovely Ham Yard Hotel. As a result, it was about 10:15 am before we got downstairs to breakfast. Luckily, breakfast is a relaxed affair in this hotel.

We went back to our room after breakfast and just relaxed for the rest of the day. We have been on the go for 44 days now, so it’s probably time to just chill a bit. And we surmised that a quiet day would help Andrea’s recovery from her nasty cough and cold. Plus, the Ham Yard Hotel is a pretty nice place to just spend a day taking it easy.

At 5:00 pm we headed across the street to the hotel’s intimate Japanese restaurant, Engawa, for an early dinner.

After a beautiful dinner, we headed back to our room, to quickly get organised to head out and hail a cab to the Adelphi Theatre to see the “Back to the Future” musical.

It’s fair to say that the show did not spend a lot of time examining life’s great questions. But it was brilliantly done and a huge amount of fun. The energy levels of the cast and the audience were huge, and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

After the show was finished, we exited out a side door into a small alley and discovered that it was raining pretty steadily. We walked down the alley back onto The Strand, with a view to getting a taxi back to the hotel. But, of course, most other theatres in the West End had finished around the same time so taxis were in short supply. So, we decided to just walk back to the hotel in the rain. Even though it was wet, there were plenty of people out and about, and there was a real buzz in the city.

We got back to the hotel around 11:00 pm. We were a bit damp but the walk through night-time London was very nice.

Tomorrow is our last day in London, before we are due to fly to New Delhi.
