We had a sleep-in this morning, and got downstairs to breakfast around 10:15 am.

After enjoying breakfast, we went back upstairs to our room. The weather was very dreary today and not very conducive to outdoor activities. But we had organised to meet David, our shooting instructor from yesterday at Chewton Glen, here on the grounds of the Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire, to try our hand at archery. So, rain or not, out we went!

We probably would have spent more time on the archery had it not been raining. But we had fun, even in the rain. We said goodbye to David, and then hopped into our car for a 45-minute drive to Windsor, where we planned to spend the rest of the day.

We got into the pretty town of Windsor around 1:00 pm. We parked the car and set off to visit Windsor Castle.

Windsor Castle was built in the 11th century, after the Norman invasion of England by William the Conqueror. The castle has been used by the reigning English monarch since the time of Henry I, who ascended to the throne in 1100, and is the longest-occupied palace in Europe. Inside the castle walls is the beautiful, 15th-century St. George’s Chapel, widely considered to be one of the finest examples of English Gothic design.

The castle was not overly busy, which made walking around the grounds rather more enjoyable.

We left the palace a little before 5:00 pm and had a walk through the town. We stopped at a cute little shop serving afternoon tea, for an afternoon tea of scones, cake, and sandwiches.

Having enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea, we decided to explore a little more around the Windsor shops. We walked around until rain threatened again, and then we headed back to the car. We had a pleasant drive back along the M3 to the hotel. We got back around 6:30 pm and ordered room service for dinner.

Today is the 52nd day of what was going to be a 52-day trip. But the India visa issues (now sorted!) have meant that we’re going to be travelling a bit longer than originally planned. No matter, we’re happy to keep going!

We think we’ll just spend tomorrow morning relaxing in the hotel and head to the airport early in the afternoon for our flight to New Delhi.
