Leaving India
We were able to sleep in a bit this morning, since we had nothing much to do this morning before heading back to New Delhi to fly home. It wasn’t until about 10:30 am that we got down to breakfast.

After enjoying the final breakfast of this holiday, we headed back upstairs to pack for the final time. We had accumulated a few extra bags of things that had yet to be stuffed into our suitcases, so we knew we were going to have a small battle to get everything in. But, we did! And, unlike on previous trips, we didn’t have to buy an extra suitcase, which was nice.
We went downstairs just after midday to check out. We stopped for one last photo at the hotel before getting into the car for the 230-kilometre drive back to the New Delhi airport.

Most of the drive back to the airport was on the expressway, so it was pretty uneventful. Though, the same could not be said of the last part of the trip through the New Delhi traffic! We got to the airport just before 4:00 pm and said goodbye to our driver, Suresh, who had looked after us wonderfully over the last few days.
Getting inside the terminal building was only slightly less chaotic than the Delhi traffic. Eventually, we got inside, checked in, and asked about the location of the Qantas lounge. We were told that the lounge was being renovated, and we were directed to an Irish pub instead!
Our flight out was delayed, so we ended up spending about three hours sitting in the Irish pub. With limited food, no tea or coffee, extremely slow Internet, and the competing noise of construction and loud music, it was probably not the best airport lounge experience we’ve ever had!
At about 8:15 pm, we headed down to our gate and boarded. We settled into our seats, hoping to get a few hours of sleep on the for the 12-hour flight, which will land around lunchtime tomorrow in Melbourne.
