Today we headed off in the car for a road trip to Canberra. We stopped in Euroa for a bite to eat and then again in Yass to refuel. We arrived in Canberra around 5:30 pm and checked into our hotel, the Ovolo Nishi. After settling in, we went downstairs for a very nice dinner at Monster Kitchen, the hotel's restaurant. After dinner, we went for a short walk around the block in the rather crisp Canberra night air, before returning to our room for an early night. Tomorrow we plan to just relax and wander around in Canberra.
We got off to a pretty slow start today, getting down to breakfast at about 10:15 am. We enjoyed a nice breakfast while we pondered what we'd do today. We decided that we'd like to go for a walk across the bridge on Commonwealth Avenue over Lake Burley Griffin.
This morning we didn't get the sleep-in we would have liked. We were woken at 7:00 am by the sound of jack-hammering below us, where a café is being built in the building that houses the hotel.
We set the alarm for 7:30 am this morning, so we could get to breakfast by about 8:30 am. We enjoyed a lovely, leisurely breakfast. On the way back from breakfast, we detoured via the lion enclosure. We left our guest house at around 11:00 am and walked back to the main lodge to relax for a while. Our first scheduled activity of the day was to feed some meerkats.
Our alarm went off very early this morning so we could pack our bags and be ready for our final morning at Jamala. We met Angela, our guide over our three days at Jamala, just before 7:30 am and set off for a morning of feeding the animals.
