Afer a good night’s sleep last night, we got to breakfast at around 8:30 am. We had a lovely breakfast while planning that activities for the day.

In the end, we decided to take a little boat out and head around to Mermaid Cove on the north of the island, to do some snorkelling.

We had a fantastic afternoon of snorkelling, although there was a bit of trepidation about the possibility of meeting a crocodile in the water. We had asked the staff at the hotel about the chance of encountering a crocodile and they downplayed it, saying they hadn’t seen one for over a week! A couple of years earlier, a swimmer was attacked 50 metres off-shore at Lizard Island by a crocodile, so we definitely were on the lookout for them. Still, we spent plenty of time in the water and the sights and colours of the Great Barrier Reef were incredible, better than anywhere else we had snorkelled on the reef.

We left Mermaid Cove and headed back toward the resort, stopping in Watsons Bay to swim with the turtles, which was a lot of fun. After a big day in the sun, we then returned to the hotel where we freshened up and them et for drinks before dinner.

We had a lovely dinner, after which we headed back to our rooms for an early night after a big day.

Tomorrow we plan to just relax on the beach and maybe do walk on the island.
