Relaxing in Vitznau
We slept very well last night and, in no particular hurry, we meandered down to breakfast at around 10:00 am. We enjoyed a very relaxed breakfast, while discussing what we were going to do today.

With no set agenda for today, we spent the day relaxing in the hotel, before heading out for a walk late in the afternoon. On our way out, we walked through the hotel lobby and noticed a big wooden cow on display, in preparation for the Swiss National Day celebrations on Friday. Swiss National Day is celebrated on August 1st each year, and commemorates the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291.

We had a nice walk in the town. It was pretty cool today, but it was nice to be out, just enjoying the fresh Swiss mountain air.

We got back to the hotel around 6:00 pm and decided to go for a swim in the hotel’s pool. We had taken only a quick look in the pool and gym area when we checked in but, upon going right in, we now realised how much was on offer.

We had a nice swim but, truth be told, we spent a lot more time just relaxing in the jet pools than we spent swimming. We also sampled the foot spas, the ice room, and the heat room.
Feeling refreshed, we headed back to our room around 7:30 pm to get organised for dinner. We debated going downstairs to The Grill, but we decided to have dinner on our balcony, looking out at the incredible Swiss mountain scenery and listening to the peaceful dinging of cow bells on the nearby hills.

After dinner, we started packing in advance of our relatively early morning start tomorrow, when we’ll be heading to Zurich airport to catch our flight to Rome (where, on Friday, we’ll be boarding our first cruise of the trip).
