Today we headed off on a 10-day trip to China! We left home at 7:15 am (only 15 minutes after our planned departure time), and our driver dropped us at the airport at about 8:30 am after a very slow trip in the congested morning traffic.

After checking in, we relaxed in the lounge until just after 10:00 am, before heading to the gate to board our flight to Singapore. We arrived in Singapore around 3:30 pm (local time), which gave us just enough time to head to the lounge for a quick drink before the very long walk to the gate for our 5:00 pm departure to Shanghai.

We landed in Shanghai just before 10:30 pm. As we stepped off the plane, we were met by a local agent who whisked us through immigration and managed our luggage for us. He escorted us to meet our driver for the trip to the Peninsula Hotel, where we’ll be staying for the next few days.

It was nearly midnight by the time we got into our room, nearly 20 hours after we’d left home. Needless to say, we headed straight to bed.

Tomorrow we’re planning on sleeping in a bit, and then doing some sightseeing in Shanghai.
