China
In Shanghai
We slept pretty well last night and made it down to breakfast by about 10:15 am. Over breakfast, we chatted about what we might do today. We decided that we’d probably just do a bit of exploring on foot.

It was a little after midday when we left the hotel. We had expected the weather to be cool, but today it was a beautiful sunny day, with the temperature hovering around 20C. We headed along The Bund, admiring the many beautiful buildings along the way.
Our first destination was Yu Garden, a walk of about 20 minutes. Yu Garden is a historic classical Chinese garden in Shanghai’s Old City. It is made up of tranquil ponds, winding corridors, rockeries, and various pavilions. We enjoyed walking around the garden, but it was packed with people, so while it was very interesting, it was not exactly relaxing!

After leaving Yu Garden, we spent some time walking around the Shanghai Old Town.

From the Old Town, we walked back to Nanjing Road, a lively pedestrian mall. This is a very long road, so we only covered part of it before we started to think that we’d done enough walking for the day.

We headed back to the hotel, where we relaxed for a while before thinking about dinner. We had contemplated going downstairs to one of the hotel’s restaurants, but since the room service menu looked so good, we opted to have dinner in our room.

After dinner, we took in the beautiful views of Shanghai from the rooftop bar. We have a fantastic view across the river from our room, which provided a beautiful backdrop while we enjoyed dinner, but the view from the top of the hotel is quite stunning.

We have no set plans for tomorrow, so we’ll just see how we feel when we get up and go from there.
